With an ancient history, rich heritage, watersports, beautiful beaches, and vibrant culture offering diverse luxury holiday experiences for all types of travellers, Sri Lanka is a unique destination to explore. You will be visiting some of the must visit destinations, such as Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Bentota, Galle, and the commercial capital Colombo

Kingdom of Kandy

Kandy is the largest city in central Sri Lanka. Located in the centre of southern Sri Lanka and in the midst of hills of rare vegetal species, the Kandy Valley crosses an area of tropical plantations. This place is renowned for its rich cultural heritage, vibrant festivals, and scenic beauty. It is home to the Temple of the Tooth, a UNESCO world heritage site and one of the sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world.

Here, you will be visiting the famous Temple of the Tooth Relic. Located in the Royal Palace Complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, this most renowned place to worship is where the left Canine Tooth of Gautam Buddha is enshrined. It was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988. This temple carries a lot of value for Buddhists all over the world and also has cultural value. This temple was built in the 18th century. The tooth lies in the solid gold lotus flower within a series of gold and jewelled caskets that sit on a throne and are rarely on public display.

On the way to Kandy, you will go to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, a must visit site that cannot be missed while visiting Sri Lanka. It was established in 1975 and is located in Pinnawala village. This place was originally founded in order to afford care and protection to the many orphaned Elephants found in the jungles of Sri Lanka. The main attraction is clearly to observe the elephants bathing, which is quite a spectacle. The elephants at the orphanage aren’t subjected to any form of stress, abuse, or threat at all; they are supported by a team of employees. Today, with the help of foreign elephant experts, the orphanage has become one of the most successful captive breeding programmes for Asian elephants.

Nuwara Eliya - City on the Plain

Sri Lanka's tallest town, located in the central region, Nuwara Eliya was a popular hill station during British colonial times. On the route, you'll get the opportunity to go white river rafting in Kitulgala, a town west of the Kandy-Nuwara Eliya road. It is a popular destination in Sri Lanka for adventure seekers. Nuwara’s climate is substantially colder than Sri Lanka's lowlands due to its high elevation. It is primarily known for tea production. Aside from that, this city is also known for its national parks, lakes, and some notable Hindu temples. You will get the opportunity to visit a tea factory, as Nuwara Eliya is a major tea producing region in Sri Lanka. You will also visit the Sri Baktha Temple, Lake Gregory, the Amman Temple, and the Ashoka Vatika.

  • Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple: Located in Ramboda on Kandy-Nuwara Eliya Road, approximately 30 kilometres north of Nuwara Eliya. This temple is located on a hill about 500 metres away from the main road. This temple was formed by the Chinmaya Mission of Sri Lanka and is devoted to the Lord Hanuman (Hindu God). According to the Ramayana, this is the place where Lord Hanuman stopped to rest on his way to look for Mata Sita. This temple is home to Sri Lanka's tallest Hanuman statue, at 18 feet tall.

  • Lake Gregory: It is a popular tourist destination in Sri Lanka, is a gorgeous artificial lake built by Sir William Gregory and serving as the focal point of Nuwara Eliya city. The lake was created in 1873 in order to generate electricity since the town was growing rapidly during the colonial era. Today, the lake is more like a lake park that gives you various recreational activities and water sports activities such as speed boating, boat rentals, water slides, windsurfing, including picnic areas, fishing, and many more.

  • Amman Temple: Located 7 km southeast of Nuwara Eliya, is only a Hindu temple that is dedicated to Mata Sita. It is believed that Sita Devi was kept at this site by King Ravana. The temple design incorporates intricate cravings, vivid paintings, and stunning sculptures. This temple holds significance for devotees and spiritual seekers and serves as a place of worship and pilgrimage, where people come to offer their prayers and seek blessings. The temple is surrounded by lush greenery, rolling hills, and serene lakes.

  • Asoka Vatika: Situated near the Hakgala Botanical Garden, this place is related to the epic legendary tale of Ramayan and is said to be another place where Sita Devi was kept by King Ravana. It is a royal garden named after the Ashoka Tree, which is considered sacred in Hinduism. It is a place of great religious and mythological importance to Hindus.

Bentota - City of Golden Beaches

Bentota City is located on the South West coast of Sri Lanka and is known for being home to one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka. It is a huge attraction that is famous for water sports activities. It is the most famous coastal town, famous for world class hotels. This place provides various water sports activities such as water skiing, jet skiing, windsurfing, sailing, deep sea fishing, and many more.

Here you will be visiting the famous Bentota Beach, which is one of the most popular beaches in the south west beach region. It is a perfect spot for water sports lovers who like to dive and glide through the sifting waves. Bentota Beach also offers opportunities for relaxation and rejuvenation with its luxurious resorts, spas, and wellness centres. It is a tropical paradise that caters to both adventure seekers and those seeking relaxation, making it an ideal destination for a memorable holiday in Sri Lanka.

Galle - The Fortress city

It is a historic city with an old trading port blessed with Dutch colonial buildings, ancient mosques, churches, grand mansions, and museums. Galle is full of iconic architectural landmarks. It is the most exciting and vibrant city, given its historical significance, and it is most definitely a city you will want to check out when you visit Sri Lanka. This tour includes the famous Dutch Fort in Galle.

The Dutch Fort is one of the best preserved forts in South Asia, constructed by European imperial powers. This architectural and archaeological wonder was first built in 1588 by the Portuguese. When the Portuguese first arrived in Sri Lanka, they built a small fortification on the site, which was later captured by the Dutch in 1640. The Dutch expanded and fortified the fort, creating a stronghold that served as an important trading port for the Dutch East India Company. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988, attracts the hearts of tourists, and covers an area of 53 hectares inside the walls.

Colombo - Sri Lanka’s Commercial Capital

Colombo is the commercial capital of Sri Lanka and also the largest city by population. It is located on the west coast of the island. It is the island’s financial centre and a popular tourist destination. It is home to around a million people and is also one of the busiest ports in South Asia. Colombo was the capital for over two hundred years until the capital was shifted to nearby Sri Jayawardenepura, but it remains the hub and heart of the city.
