Langtang valley trek is a moderate level trek in the mountains of Nepal. The trekking is not extensive and requires a good level of physical fitness. The Langtang National Park lies in the trekking route, so you need to obtain a National park permit before entering the Langtang National Park area. This trek requires to reach at an elevation beyond 4000 m above sea level. You need to take good care of the wild habitat. Trekking to the Langtang valley is not demanding however, you need to have a good understanding of altitude. 

Detailed Itinerary

  • DAY 1

    Kathmandu Arrival, Transfer to Hotel.

    Your Arrival Time (?) Our office representative will meet and greet you at Kathmandu Airport and transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu.

    At 06:00 PM: In the evening we will meet for a coffee and will brief you the details of your trek program.
    Elevation: 1,350M

    *Optionally you can add one additional night stay in Kathmandu to cover cultural sightseeing in Kathmandu as well for your trek preparation shopping.

    Kathmandu Full Day Sightseeing: You will visit for a full day sightseeing in Kathmandu of Kathmandu and Patan Durbar Square, Boudhanath and Swayambhunath.

  • DAY 2

    Drive to Syabrubesi.

    At 07:00 AM: After breakfast in the morning, we will drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the starting point of the trek. The drive takes around eight hours and passes through rural lowland villages where we can observe the procession of an ordinary day. Scenic views of mountains and stretches of rolling hills also accompany you. Overnight stay at a Syabrubesi.
    Elevation: 1,500M

  • DAY 3

    Trek to Lama Hotel.

    At 08:00 AM: The trek to Lama Hotel is mostly following the upstream of Langtang River. After crossing a suspension bridge, we pass a stream. The walk continues along with forests of Bamboo, Rhododendron and other alpine trees. It’s an easy walk despite the wavy nature of the trail. Overnight stay at Lama Hotel.
    Elevation: 2,480M

  • DAY 4

    Trek to Langtang Village.

    At 08:00 AM: After breakfast, we move on through a trail along with dense forests which ascends towards Ghoda Tabela. Views of Langtang Ri and the Langtang Village are magnificent from here. As we move to the Langtang Village, prayer flags, chortens, mani walls and water mills welcome us. Overnight stay at a lodge in Langtang Valley.

  • DAY 5

    Trek to Kyanjin Gompa.

    At 08:00 AM: We will leave the village after breakfast, we move on through high pasture lands where yaks graze. Today’s walk is mostly walking alongside the mani walls and across wooden bridges, high altitude atmosphere can be felt as we reach Kyanjin Gompa. Overnight stay in a Kyanjin Gompa lodge.
    Elevation: 3,830M

    Meal: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included.

  • DAY 6

    Hike to Kyanjin Ri.

    At 06:00 AM: It’s a day for exploration. A hike to Kyanjin Ri is scheduled in the morning. Incredible landscape views of Langtang range joys the eyes at the elevation. After returning back, we can explore around Kyanjing Gompa which is also the settlement area for Buddhist community people.

  • DAY 7

    Trek to Lama Hotel.

    At 08:00 AM: We walk past scenic trails to get back to Lama Hotel via Ghoda Tabela. The route is mostly a descent and an easy and pleasant walk. Overnight stay in a Lama Hotel.
    Elevation: 2,480M

    Meal: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included.

  • DAY 8

    Trek to Syabrubesi.

    At 08:00 AM: Further descending to Syabrubesi, we take the same route through Bamboo. Thick bamboo and rhododendron forests pass along the way. Overnight stay at a Syabrubesi.
    Elevation: 1,500M

    Meal: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included.

  • DAY 9

    Drive to Kathmandu.

    On this day you are returning to Kathmandu by drive. You will get shopping time in Kathmandu and we will have a farewell Nepali dinner together.

  • DAY 10

    Departure.

    You will be free until your flight time; we will drop you at Kathmandu Airport 3 hour before your flight.

    Porter will help you by carrying your baggage during the trek. He can carry weighing 15 to 25 kgs. It helps you in making your trek easier.
  • How difficult is this trek?

    This is a moderate level trek. One must walk uphill during the trek time. A physically fit and a mentally calm person can complete the trek easily.
  • Which is the best time to visit Nepal?

    The best season to visit Nepal is the pre-monsoon period (February to May) and Post monsoon period (September to December). The sky is clear, which means that you can truly enjoy the remarkable Nepalese landscape with the mountainous views. 

    The weather is either usually too cold in the winter and very wet in the summer during the monsoon season, but you can trek to Upper Mustang because it falls under the rain shadow.

    The permit and the passes depend upon the trekking area. There are a few restricted trekking areas in Nepal, where trekking permits are required such as Dolpo, Mustang, Manaslu, Kanchenjunga, Nar-Phu, Tsum Valley and Dhaulagiri. Special trekking permit like Tourist Information Management System (TIMS) is required to explore the regions.     Before starting, you must know about your body fitness. Good level of physical fitness, general hiking experience are important factors for trekking. You should be mentally calm and comfortable during the trek.
  • What is Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS)? How can I prevent it?

    AMS occurs on the high altitude. The cardiopulmonary system is affected by low oxygen density. It causes breathing difficulty. The major symptoms of AMS   or dizziness, low appetite, nausea and vomiting, insomnia. It can be prevented by trekking through appropriate regions, giving oxygen, drinking 4 to 5 litres of water or liquid per day, do acclimatization.
  • Should I carry medicines and first aid kits?

    We highly recommend you to bring your prescribed medicines and first aid kit. While travelling with a guide, you can ask him for it. He has a vast knowledge about first aid treatment.  He also provides you with rescue treatment at the time of emergency.
  • Rescue if needed?

    You will be provided rescue facilities in case of emergency. Insurance-based helicopter rescue and medical evacuation services are also facilitated.
