Langtang valley GanjaLa Pass Trek is an incredible trek comprising the wonderful Langtang and Helambu region of Nepal. It is off the beaten path trek and comparatively more difficult than other trekking of the Langtang region. The Ganja La pass crossing is the most difficult part of this trekking and may require some good physical fitness. The Ganja La pass, situated at an altitude of 5130 m., offers spectacular beauty of the mountains and glimpses of the valleys including the sight of majestic Himalayas. The Mount Gaurishankar, Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Yala Peak, Dorje Lakpa, Mt. Everest and other neighboring mountains can be seen from the Ganja La Pass. The trek is challenging but it is one of the best treks of the Langtang region that offers diverse experiences.

Trekking to Langtang Valley and Ganja La Pass starts with a drive to Syabrubesi from Kathmandu. The trek further to Lama Hotel will add beauty to the trek. Trailing further the Lama Hotel, you will reach Langtang valley where you will be facilitated with the warmest hospitality of locals. You can explore the rural villages such as Ghoda Tabela while exploring the stunning landscapes comprising the Rhododendron forest with a spectacular view of Langtang Lirung. 

After visiting Langtang valley, you will trek further to the Kyanjin Gompa. The further trek will take you to Ganja La Phedi. After exploring the village of Ganjala Phedi, here comes the day of crossing Ganjala pass. You will be trekking to the Keldang via Ganja La Pass. After reaching Keldang, you will trek to Yak Kharka. The walk further will take you to the Helambu region where you will visit Tarke Ghyang. The steep climb to the Yangri peak will offer you some of the best versions of mountain views and valleys. You can explore some monasteries in the region. The further trek will take you to Shermanthang. It is a beautiful cultural village where you will be exploring the lush greenery and the beauty of the mountains. Detailed Itinerary

  • DAY 1

    Kathmandu Arrival, Transfer to Hotel

    Your Arrival Time (?) Our office representative will meet and greet you at Kathmandu Airport and transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu.

    At 06:00 PM: In the evening we will meet for a coffee and will brief you the details of your trek program.

  • DAY 2

    Kathmandu Sightseeing and Trek Preparation Day

    At 10:00 AM: You will visit for a full day sightseeing of Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swayambhunath, Boudhanath and Pashupatinath. Besides sightseeing, you can do the required shopping for your trek.
    Elevation: 1,350M

  • DAY 3

    Drive to Syabrubesi

    At 08:00 AM: Breakfast at the hotel and our office representative will pick you from the hotel. You will drive to Syabrubesi and it will take about 8 days to reach Syabrubesi from Kathmandu. You will also get to view Ganesh Himal while walking on the bank of Trishuli river.
    Elevation: 1,500M

  • DAY 4

    Trek to Lama Hotel

    At 07:00 AM: Breakfast at your local tea house and then you will start your first day of the trek. You will begin your walk along the Langtang River. You will walk through rhododendron forest and you will also have some glimpse of Mt. Langtang Lirung. Situated at an altitude of 2,480 meters above from sea level it is the largest settlement area of Tamangs in this region.

  • DAY 5

    Trek to Langtang Village

    At 07:00 AM: After breakfast at Lama Hotel, you will walk towards Langtang Village. During your day you will pass through some of the human settlement areas such as Ghodatabela and you will have a stunning landscape of rhododendron forest along with an amazing view of Mt. Langtang Lirung before reaching Langtang Village.
    Elevation: 3,430M

  • DAY 6

    Trek to Kyanjin Gompa

    At 07:00 AM: After breakfast, you will move towards the largest mani wall in Nepal. It is made up of stone and prayers are inscribed in the stone. You will also pass through several wooden bridges before reaching Kyanjin Gompa. Situated at an altitude of 3,830 meters it is an ideal point to view glaciers, icefalls, yaks and birds.
    Elevation: 3,830M

  • DAY 7

    Hike to Tserko Ri

    At 07:00 AM: After breakfast, you can have free time interacting with the locals as well as the other trekkers. During this day you will be exploring Tserko Ri. You can also have the option to visit Kyanjin Ri or Langtang Base Camp for the day. From Tserko Ri you can have an amazing view of the mountain ranges such as Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Gaurishankar, Yala Peak etc.

  • DAY 8

    Trek to Ganja La Phedi

    At 07:00 AM: After breakfast, you will start your trek. During this day you will cross the Langtang River and ascend through rhododendron forest to reach Ganja La Phedi. It will take more time to reach Ganja La Phedi from Tserko Ri during the time of winter due to snow.
    Elevation: 4,300M

  • DAY 9

    Trek to Keldang via Ganja La Pass

    At 07:00 AM: After breakfast, you will start walking towards Ganja La Pass. Covered in snow almost throughout the year Ganja La Pass is difficult during winter. Situated at an altitude of 5,130 meters above from sea level Ganja La Pass is one of the most difficult passes of Nepal. After reaching Ganja La Pass and mesmerizing the moment you will walk through steep downwards trail to reach Keldang.
    Elevation: 4,250M

  • DAY 10

    Trek to Yak Kharka

    At 07:00 AM: Breakfast at Keldang and you will move towards Yak Kharka for the overnight stay. It will take about six hours to reach Keldang and you will descend almost all day before reaching Yak Kharka.
    Elevation: 4,000M

  • DAY 11

    Trek to Tarke Ghyang

    At 07:00 AM: After breakfast, you will walk further on the Helambu region to reach Tarke Ghyang. In the beginning, you will have to walk a steep climb before reaching Yangri Peak. You will view different mountains throughout your day. Upon reaching Tarke Ghyang you can also explore the Tarke Ghyang Monastery and Chiri Monastery.
    Elevation: 2,740M

  • DAY 12

    Rest and Exploration Day

    At 07:00 AM: Breakfast at Tarke Ghyang and you will start an early walk to Aama Yangri. Situated at an altitude of 3,771 meters above sea level you can have an amazing view of Langtang Lirung, Gaurishankar, Dorje Lakpa and even Mt. Everest on a clear day. After back at Tarke Ghyang you can also explore Chiri Monastery and Tarke Ghyang Monastery or interact with the locals.

  • DAY 13

    Trek to Shermathang

    At 07:00 AM: After breakfast, you will walk towards Shermathang. One of the popular Hyalmo village of Helambu. In the beginning, you will walk on the motorable roads and cross a small jungle before reaching Shermathang. Upon reaching you will check-in and explore the village. You can interact with the locals and visit Shermathang monastery.
    Elevation: 2,590M

  • DAY 14

    Trek to Melamchi, Drive to Kathmandu

    At 07:00 AM: You will start your last day of the trek after breakfast. You will cross several vintage human settlement areas and pass through meadows and cultivated areas before reaching Melamchi Pul Bazaar. Upon reaching Melamchi you will take a drive to Kathmandu which may take about 4 hours. Upon arrival at Kathmandu, you will be transferred to a hotel and you will have free time for shopping. In the evening we will meet and have a farewell Nepali dinner together.

  • DAY 15

    Departure

    You will be free until your flight time; we will drop you at Kathmandu Airport 3 hour before your flight.
