Helambu circuit Trek Overview
Helambu Circuit Trek is one of the shortest treks that can be completed in 11 days. Langtang region encompasses the mindblowing flora and fauna, wildlife, pristine natural beauty, and the vibrant culture and traditions. Helambu Circuit Trek is a newly introduced trek because of that it is not so explored and less human interfered. The pristine culture and traditions, and the immense natural beauty of the trek make this trek one of the best short trekking in Nepal. You will not be getting to the high altitudes so there are fewer chances of High Altitude Sickness making it favorable for beginners. You do not require any camping and don’t need to be completely self-sustained as there are teahouse, lodges, and homestays available in the trekking route. Further, you need to obtain some permits to complete the trek.
Witness the astounding mountain ranges and the wonderful Gosainkunda Lake during the trek. The amazing cultural practices of Sherpas and Tamang during the trek adds beauty to the trip. Starting from the Kathmandu valley, the trek takes you to the wonderful Tamang and Sherpa villages with a sight of the Himalayas and the unexplored rural settlement.
The trek starts from Sundarijal after a short drive from central Kathmandu. After the trek from Sundarijal, you will reach Chisapani, which lies at an altitude of 2215 m above sea level. Gul Bhanjyang is another village that you will enjoy. The amazing beauty of the village and the local hospitality of the people is wonderful. The Pati Bhanjyang, Thakuni Bhanjyang, Chibling and Jhogin Danda along the way to Gul Bhanjyang are awe-inspiring and offers mindblowing rural beauty.
The fascinating views of mountain ranges of the Helambu region during the trek to Thare Pati is wonderful. The beautiful Rhododendron forest is also a major attraction of the trek. The monastery of Tarke Ghyang at an elevation of 2560 offers the spiritual ambience and the culture influenced by Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery in Tarke Ghyang is also a major monastery of the Helambu region of Nepal.
After exploring the monastery, the further trail will take you to the Ama Yangri. It is also the highest point of the trek. It acts as a vantage point from where you can see the wonderful Himalayas, villages and the valleys. The jaw-dropping views of the mountains which include the Langtang range, Mount Everest, majestic Annapurna, Makalu, and some other neighbouring mountains can be seen from Ama Yangri. Ama Yangri is also a religious site for Tamangs and Sherpas of the Helambu region. The literal translation in the local language, Ama Yangri means saviour or mother of the Helambu who protects the inhabitants from the calamities and disasters.
The beautiful Rhododendron forest in your further trek along the way to Shermarthang village is also a major thing to explore in this trek. The Shemarthang village is situated at an altitude of 2621 m above sea level. It is also a major developed village in the Helambu circuit trek. The trekking further will end at Melamchi pul Bazaar from where you will have a drive back to the Kathmandu valley.
The Helambu Circuit Trek is a short and wonderful trek in the Langtang region of Nepal. It offers splendid mountain beauty and the cultural and natural spectrums in the rural villages of Nepal.
