It is a rich blend of diverse cultures, histories, flavors, and landscapes, primarily known for its heritage destinations and its wildlife and national parks. In this tour, you will be covering some of the beautiful destinations in Kartanaka that include Bangalore, Mysore, and Coorg

Bangalore - Silicon Valley of India

Officially named Bengaluru, it is one of India's largest cities. Renowned for its natural beauty, the city is surrounded by numerous parks. As the capital of Karnataka and a leading IT exporter, Bangalore boasts a pleasant climate, lush green spaces, and a vibrant cultural scene. Its significant development occurred during the British Raj, marked by the establishment of military and administrative offices. The city's blend of modernity and tradition, dynamic economy, and rich cultural heritage make it a unique and appealing destination for both residents and visitors. When you are in Bangalore, Bangalore Palace is a must see destination. Built in 1878, the palace is extraordinarily vast and spread across 45,000 square feet. It is a mixture of Tudor and Scottish Gothic architecture and a two-level palace with Roman arches. There are around 35 rooms in the palace, most of which are bedrooms, and a swimming pool. Other popular destination you will be visiting are:

  • Cubbon Park: Officially known as Sri Chamarajendra Park, this historic park is located in the heart of the city's Central Administrative Area. Spanning 300 acres, it was established in 1870 by Sri John Meade. This beautiful and expansive park is a haven for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone seeking a respite from the city's noise and crowds.
  • Lal Bagh: It is a botanical garden and a major attraction in Bangalore, covering 240 acres and home to nearly 1,854 plant species. The garden houses India's largest collection of tropical and subtropical plants, including centuries-old trees. Commissioned by Hyder Ali in 1760 and completed by his son Tipu Sultan, it also features the Lal Bagh Rock, which is over 3,000 million years old and a major tourist draw.
  • Big Bull Temple: Popularly known as 'Dodda Basavana Gudi', this site is located within Bugle Rock Park and is one of the oldest temples in Bangalore. Dedicated to Nandi, it is a must-visit for every Shiva devotee. The Bull Temple, constructed by Kempe Gowda, showcases Dravidian architectural style. Remarkably, the entire bull sculpture is carved from a single granite rock, standing 4.5 meters high and 6.5 meters long.
  • Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace: Built between 1778 and 1784, Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace was initiated by Hyder Ali, Tipu Sultan’s father, and completed by Tipu Sultan. This palace is a prime example of Indo-Islamic architecture and a must-visit attraction in Bengaluru for history and architecture enthusiasts. It provides a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the Mysore kings and stands as a testament to the region's rich cultural heritage.

Mysore - Cultural Capital of Karnataka

Located in the northwest corner of Chamundi Hill, this city is a significant manufacturing and trading center. As the third most populated city in Karnataka, its rich heritage attracts millions of tourists year-round. Known as the "Palace City of India," it has been declared a heritage city. Ruled by the Wodeyar dynasty, the city is renowned for its rich architectural history, stunning palaces, and beautiful gardens. In Mysore, you will be visiting some of the amazing attractions, such as:

  • St. Phenomena’s Church: It is one of the largest cathedrals in India and a remarkable example of Gothic architecture. It was built by Maharaja of Mysuru Mummudi Krishnaraja Wadiyar in 1843 in memory of 4th-century saint and martyr St. Philomena. The structure has twin spires 175 ft. (52.50 meters) in height, stained glass windows, Corinthian columns, and plastered niches, which are highly ornamental.
  • Brindavan Garden: Located 12 km northwest of Mysore city, the Brindavan Gardens are an essential visit in Mysore. Spanning 60 acres, it is celebrated globally for its stunning beauty and grandeur. The terraced gardens, featuring vast green expanses and colorful blooms, are meticulously designed and admired for their symmetry. The gardens also host a musical fountain show in the evenings, attracting visitors with its enchanting water displays synchronized to music.
  • Maharaja Palace: One of the largest palaces in the country, the Amba Villas Palace, also known as the Mysore Palace, was the residence of the Wodeyar Maharajas of the Mysore state. This magnificent palace is built in the Indo-Saracenic style, seamlessly blending Hindu, Muslim, Rajput, and Gothic architectural elements. The three-story stone structure boasts marble domes and a towering 145-foot, five-story tower. Now converted into a museum, the palace houses a treasure trove of souvenirs, paintings, jewelry, royal costumes, and other artifacts once owned by the Wodeyars.
  • Chamundi Hills: This hill was earlier known as Marbbala Betta (Thirtha) or Maabala Betta. This place is home to the Goddess Chamundeshwari, the patron deity of the Mysuru Royal Family. On top of the hill, there is the Chamundeswari temple, which is dedicated to Sri Chamundeswari. These hills are an essential part of Mysore's cultural and spiritual landscape, offering a blend of natural beauty and religious significance.

Coorg - Scotland of India

Officially known as Kodagu, Coorg is the most affluent hill station in Karnataka. Located among towering mountains with a perpetually misty landscape, Coorg is a well-known coffee-producing region. The area is celebrated for its picturesque green hills and the streams that flow through them. Coorg's coffee plantations, spice gardens, dense forests, and waterfalls attract nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts alike, making it a popular destination. You will be visiting some of the best places in Coorg, which include:

  • Talakaveri Temple: Located on Brahmagiri Hill, just 8 km from Bhagamandala and 48 km from Madikeri, this site is the most popular tourist destination in Coorg. This place has a small shrine with a beautifully decorated silver Shiva linga that marks the spot where the mighty river originates.
  • Omkareshwara Temple: Situated on a Pranva-shaped island in the Narmada River, this Hindu temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and showcases a blend of Gothic and Islamic architectural styles. Legend has it that the king constructed this temple as an act of atonement for the accidental killing of an innocent person during his campaign to expand the kingdom.
  • Raja Seat: Located in the town of Madikeri, it is a beautiful place, presenting a refreshing setting and a soothing environment. It is a popular tourist spot where you can watch sunsets and sunrises that make for a mesmerising view that is worth capturing with your cameras. It is the perfect setting to relax and admire the breathtaking view of the surrounding areas.
