Mesokanto La Pass Trek is adventurous trekking that takes you to the amazing Tilicho Lake and the mind-blowing mountain pass itself. Manaslu, Mt.Annapurna south, Mt.Nilgiri, Mt.Fishtail, Mt.Hiunchuli, Mt. Lamjung Himal, Tukuche peak, Tilicho peak and more. Trekking to Mesokanto La Pass is considered to be one of the most difficult trekking of the Annapurna region. This pass turns severe in the winter as it gets heavy snowfall. This Pass is also the technical pass that requires some expert guidance to cross. During the Mesokanto La Pass Trek, you will be visiting Mustang, Tilicho Lake, Manang village, and many more places in the Annapurna region.

Tilicho Lake is one of the major attractions of Mesokanto La Pass Trek. Situated at an altitude of 4949 m above sea level, this Lake is the world’s highest altitude lake. This segment of trekking comprises Tilicho Pass which is at a lower elevation than Mesokanto La Pass. The Mesokanto La Pass is situated at an altitude of 5330 m. There are no accommodation facilities after Tilicho high camp to Jomsom. So, Camping is required in this segment of this trek. This trek is comparatively difficult than other trekking areas and is off the beaten path trek. You need to obtain an ACAP permit and TIMS card to trek in Mesokanto La Pass.

Mesokanto La Pass in Tilicho is a popular yet less explored pass in the Annapurna region. It is difficult and technical pass so a good understanding of mountain passes and altitude sickness is important while trekking in this area. Although it lies in the altitude less than that of Thorang La pass, it is more difficult because of its geographical formations. It is situated at an altitude of 5330 m above sea level which makes it prone to altitude sickness. This pass connects the Mustang and Manang district.

Trekking to Mesokanto La pass newly came into limelight. However, the history of trekking in this area dated back to 1974, when Nixon amended the China policy. The area of Thini and Jomsom was a rural military area. This area is amazingly beautiful as it offers enchanting vibes of Buddhism and wonderful landscapes. The Mesokanto La Pass Trekking starts with a drive to Bhulbule via Besisahar from Kathmandu valley. You will start your trek from Bhulbule. From Bhulbule, you will be heading towards Chamje village, crossing the wonderful Marshyangdi river. From Chamje, you will be trekking towards Dharapani and Chame. The trekking further takes you to wonderful villages of Pisang and Manang. You will explore the wonderful Manang village and the lifestyle of local people. From Manang village, you will trek to Tilicho Base Camp. Tilicho Base Camp offers the spectacular views of Annapurna, Gangapurna and Tilicho Peaks.

After exploring Tilicho Base Camp, you will trek to Nama Phu after crossing Mesokanto La Pass. The Tilicho Pass or Mesokanto La Pass is a wonderful place to explore in this area. From Mesokanto La, you will trek to Jomsom from where you can get a flight to Pokhara. A drive from Pokhara will take you back to the Kathmandu valley.
